Recently, I heard a touching story which illustrates the power that words have to change a life -- a power that lies right in the hands of those reading this article. Mary had grown up knowing that she was different from the other kids, and she hated it. She was born with a cleft palate and had to bear the jokes and stares of cruel children who teased her non-stop about her misshaped lip, crooked nose, and garbled speech. With all the teasing, Mary grew up hating the fact that she was "different". She was convinced that no one, outside her family, could ever love her ... until she entered Mrs. Leonard’s class.
Mrs. Leonard had a warm smile, a round face, and shiny brown hair. While everyone in her class liked her, Mary came to love Mrs. Leonard. In the 1950’s, it was common for teachers to give their children an annual hearing test. However, in Mary’s case, in addition to her cleft palate, she was barely able to hear out of one ear. Determined not to let the other children have another "difference" to point out, she would cheat on the test each year. The "whisper test" was given by having a child walk to the classroom door, turn sideways, close one ear with a finger, and then repeat something which the teacher whispered. Mary turned her bad ear towards her teacher and pretended to cover her good ear. She knew that teachers would often say things like, "The sky is blue," or "What color are your shoes?" But not on that day. Surely, God put seven words in Mrs. Leonard’s mouth that changed Mary’s life forever. When the "Whisper test" came, Mary heard the words: "I wish you were my little girl."
Dads, I wish there was some way that I could communicate to you the incredible blessing which affirming words impart to children. I wish, too, that you could sit in my office, when I counsel, and hear the terrible damage that individuals received from not hearing affirming words--particularly affirming words from a father. While words from a godly teacher can melt a heart, words from a father can powerfully set the course of a life.
If affirming words were something rarely spoken in your home growing up, let me give you some tips on words and phrases that can brighten your own child’s eyes and life. These words are easy to say to any child who comes into your life. I’m proud of you, Way to go, Bingo ... you did it, Magnificent, I knew you could do it, What a good helper, You’re very special to me, I trust you, What a treasure, Hurray for you, Beautiful work, You’re a real trooper, Well done, That’s so creative, You make my day, You’re a joy, Give me a big hug, You’re such a good listener, You figured it out, I love you, You’re so responsible, You remembered, You’re the best, You sure tried hard, I’ve got to hand it to you, I couldn’t be prouder of you, You light up my day, I’m praying for you, You’re wonderful, I’m behind you, You’re so kind to your (brother/sister), You’re God’s special gift, I’m here for you

“Choosing is the byname of freedom.

My Mother Is My Life Line
© Jessica styles
My mother is my lifeline, she is my complete savior,
She does everything she can for me, and for that I praise her,
She went without when I was younger so I could have nice stuff,
She worked herself to the bone, but never did she give up.
My mother is my lifeline, she is truly my best friend,
she help me through the good and bad, she stayed there till the end,
she pick me up when I was down and wiped the tears away,
she will be there when I need her every night and everyday.
My mother is my lifeline, she's completely a shining star,
she has never made me feel alone, no distance is too far,
she’ll travel to the moon and back, if I ask her to.
My mother is my lifeline, this poem I wrote for you.

I had rather believe all the fables in the Legend, and the Talmud, and the Alcoran, than that this universal frame is without a mind. And therefore, God never wrought miracle to convince atheism, because his ordinary works convince it It is true, that a little philosophy inclineth man's mind to atheism; but depth in philosophy bringelh men's minds about to religion: for while the mind of man looketh upon second causes scattered, it may sometimes rest in them, and go no further: but when it beholdeth the chain of them, confederate and linked together, it must needs fly to providence, and deity. Nay, even mat school which is most accused of atheism, doth most demonstrate religion; that is, the school of Leucippus, and Democritus, and Epicurus.
For it is a thousand times more credible, that four mutable elements, and one immutable fifth essence, duly and eternally placed, needs no God, than mat an army of infinite small proportions, or seeds unplaced, should have produced this order, and beauty, without a divine marshal.
The scripture saith; The fool hath said in his heart, mere is no God: it is not said; The fool hath thought in his heart: so as, he rather saith it by rote to himself, as that he would have, than (hat he can thoroughly believe it, or be persuaded of it For none deny there is a God, but those, for whom it maketh that there were no God. It appeareth in nothing more, mat atheism is radher in die lip, man in die heart of man, man by this; dial atheists will ever be talking of that their opinion, as if they fainted in it, within themselves, and would be glad to be strengthened, by me consent of others: nay more, you shall have atheists strive to get disciples, as it faredh with other sects: and, which is most of all, you shall have of mem, mat will suffer for adieism, and not recant; whereas, if they did truly think, mat mere were no such dung as God, why should diey trouble themselves? Epicurus is charged, that he did but dissemble, for his credit's sake, when he affirmed, there were blessed natures, but such as enjoyed themselves, without having respect to the government of the world.
Wherein, they say, he did temporise; though in secret, he thought, there was no God. But certainly, he is traduced; for his words are noble and divine: non deos vulgi negare profanum, sed vulgi opines diis applicare prcfanum.
Plato could have said no more. And although he had the confidence to deny the administration, he had not the power todeny the nature. The Indians of the West have names for their particular gods, though they have no name for God: as if the heathens should have had the names Jupiter, Apollo, Mars, &c., but not the word deus: which shows, that even those barbarous people have the notion, though they have not the latitude, and extent of it So that against atheists, the very savages take part, with the very subtlest philosophers. The contemplative atheist is rare; a Diagoras, a Bion, a Lucian perhaps, and some others; and yet they seem to be more than they are; for that, all that impugn a received religion, or superstition, are by the adverse part branded with the name of atheists.
But me great atheists, indeed, are hypocrites; which are ever handling holy things, but without feeling. So as they must needs be cauterised in the end. The causes of atheism are; divisions in religion, if they be many; for any one main division addeth zeal to both sides; but many divisions introduce atheism.
Another is, scandal of priests; when it is come to that, which St Bernard saith; mon est ian dicere, ut populus ,sic sacerdos:quia nes populus,ut sacerdos. A third is, custom of profane scoffing in holy matters; which doth, by little and little, deface the reverence of religion. And lastly, learned times, specially with peace, and prosperity: for troubles and adversities do more bow men's minds to religion.
They that deny a God, destroy man's nobility; for certainly, man is of kin to the beasts, by his body; and if he be not of kin to God, by his spirit, he is a base and ignoble creature. It destroys likewise magnanimity, and the raising of human nature: for take an example of a dog; and mark what a generosity and courage he will put on, when he finds himself maintained by a man; who to him is in stead of a God, or melior natura: which courage is manifestly such as that creature, without that confidence of a better nature than his own, could never attain. So man, when he resteth and assureth himself upon divine protection, and favour, gathereth a force and faith; which human nature, in itself, could not obtain.
Therefore, as atheism is in all respects hateful, so in this, that it depriveth human nature of the means to exalt itself, above human frailty. As it is in particular persons, so it is in nations: never was there such a state, for magnanimity, as Rome: of this state hear what Cicero saith; Quam volumus licet. patres conscripti, nos amemus, tamen nec numero Hispans, nec robore Gallos, mec calliditate Poems, nec artibus Graecos.nec denique hoc ipso huius gentis et terrae domestico nativoque sensu Itlos ipsos et Latinos; sed pietate, ac religione, atque hac una sapientia, quod deorum imortalium numine omnia regi gubernarique perspeximus, ormes gentes nationesque superavimus.

经典英语美文朗诵:The story of life 生命的故事
Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away they were meant to be there , to serve some sort of purpose ,teach you a lesson,or to help you figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people maybe (possibly your roommate , neighbor , coworker , long lost friend , lover , or even a complete stranger),but when you lock eyes with them, you know at that very moment they will affect your life in some profound way .
And sometimes things happen to you that may seem horrible , painful. and unfair at first , but in reflection you find that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential , strength , willpower , or heart.
Everything happens for a reason.Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck. Illness , injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small test whatever they may be ,life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere. It would be safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless. The people you meet who affect your life ,and the success and downfalls you experience , help to create who you are and who you become.
Even the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact ,they are probably the most poignant and important ones.If someone hurts you , betrays you ,or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious when you open your heart. If someone loves you ,love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you ,but because in a way , they are teaching you to love and how to open your heart and eyes to things.
Make every day count.Appreciate every moment and take from those moments everything that you possibly can for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people that you have never talked to before, and actually listen.Let yourself fall in love, break free, and set your sights high.Hold your head up because you have every right to.Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don’t believe in yourself , it will be hard for others to believe in you . You can make of your life anything you wish. Create your own life and then go out and live it with absolutely no regrets.
Most impotantly,if you LOVE someone, tell him or her ,for you never know what tomorrow may have in store. And learn a lesson in life each day that you live.
That`s the story of life.

The English Character
To other Europeans, the best known quality of the British,
and in particular of the English, is “reserved”.
A reserved person is one who does not talk very much to strangers,
does not show much emotion, and seldom gets excited.
It is difficult to get to know a reserved person:
he never tells you anything about himself,
and you may work with him for years without ever knowing where he lives,
how many children he has, and what his interests are.
English people tend to be like that.
Closely related to English reserve is English modesty.
Within their hearts, the English are perhaps no less conceited than anybody else,
but in their relations with others they value at least a show of modesty.
Self-praise is felt to be impolite.
If a person is, let us say,
very good at tennis and someone asks him if he is a good player,
he will seldom reply “Yes,”
because people will think him conceited.
He will probably give an answer like,
“I’m not bad,” or “I think I’m very good,” or “Well, I’m very keen on tennis.”
Even if he had managed to reach the finals in last year’s local championships,
he would say it in such a way as to suggest that it was only due to a piece of good luck.
Since reserve and modesty are part of his own nature,
the typical English tends to expect them in others.
He secretly looks down on more excitable nations,
and likes to think of himself as more reliable than they are.
He doesn’t trust big promises and open shows of feelings,
especially if they are expressed in flowery language.
He doesn’t trust self-praise of any kind.
This applies not only to what other people may tell him about themselves orally,
but to the letters they may write to him.
To those who are fond of flowery expressions,
the Englishman may appear uncomfortably cold.

Stereo Skyline - Kiss Me In The Morning
Lyrics:
Every day gets a little bit better
when it starts with you
I don't care about the weather
If it's pouring rain (if it's pouring rain)
I know it sounds insane (I know it sounds insane)
But, I never thought a dream could come true
Until the day, the day I met you (you)
yea you, you
So, who cares if this is too fast
Cause I think it could last
If you kiss me in the morning
say you're mine
I can make it through the day alright.
If you leave a little lipstick on my mind
I'll be fine, I'll be fine
And if I was a million miles away
I'd try to make it back to you each day
So kiss me in the morning
leave a little warning
telling me to hurry back, please hurry back tonight.
(hurry back, please hurry back tonight)
(hurry back, please hurry back tonight)
Every word that you say sounds sweeter than a symphony
and I can't believe that it's happening to me
(that it's happening to me)
I want everyone to see (everyone to see)
But I never thought a dream could come true
Until the day, the day I met you (you)
yea you, you
So, who cares if this is too fast
Oh, cause I think it could last
If you kiss me in the morning
say you're mine
I can make it through the day alright.
If you leave a little lipstick on my mind

The Afters - Life is Beautiful
Lyrics:
Through the window
I see you waiting
You are smiling
Cause I'm coming
Your eyes are a story
An ocean of memories
Pictures of faces and places
And all of the things
That make us feel like we have it all
All of the times
That make us realize
We have it all
We have it all
Life is beautiful
Life is beautiful
Living and dying
Laughing or crying
If we have the whole world or have nothing
I know there are long nights
But we'll make it
With every sunrise comes a new light
And all of the things
That make us feel like we have it all
All of the times
That make us realize
We have it all
We have it all
Life is beautiful
Life is beautiful
Life is beautiful
A father's love
A wedding dance
New Year's dreams
A toast with friends
A soldier coming home from war
The faith the hope of so much more
A brand new life, a mother's prayer
Shooting stars, ocean air
A lover's kiss, and hard goodbyes
Fireworks, Christmas lights
These are things that make us feel alive
These are the times that make us realize
Life is beautiful

The Five Boons of Life, 希望使你的心灵有所触动。
In the morning of life came a good fairy with herbasket, and said:"Here are gifts. Take one, leave theothers,And be wary, choose wisely! For only one ofthem is valuable."
The gifts were five :Fame, Love,Riches,Pleasure,Death. The youth, said, eagerly:"Thereis no need to consider";and he chose Pleasure.
He went out into the world and sought out thepleasures that youth delights in . But each in its turnwas short-liyed and disappointing, vain and empty;and each, departing, mocked him .In the endhe said:"These years i have wasted. If i could but choose again, I would choose wisely."
2
The fairy appeared, and said:"Four of the gifts remain.choose once more:and oh,remember--time is flying, and only one of them is precious."
The man considered long, then chose Love;and did not mark the tears that rose in the fairy'seyes.
After many, many years the man sat by a coffin,in an empty home. And he communed withhimself, saying:"One by one they have gone away and leftme;and now she lies here, the dearestand the last.Desolation after desolation has swept over me;but each hour of happiness thetreacherous trader,Love, sold me i have paid a thousand hours ofo grief!Out of my heart ofhearts i curse him!"

"Choose again."It was the fairy speaking."The years have you wisdow-surely it must beso. There gifts remain.Only one of them has anyworth-remember it ,and choose warily."
The man reflected long, then chose Fame;and the fairy, sighing, went her way.
Years went by and she came again, and stood behind the man where he sat solitary in thefading day, thinking. And she knew his thought:"My name filled the world, and its praiss were onevery tongue, and it seemed well with me for a littlewhile. How little a while it was! Then cameenvy;then detraction;then hate;then persecution. Then derision, which is the begining of theend. And last of all came pity, which is the funeral of fame.Oh ,the bitterness and misery ofrenown!"

"Choose yet again."It was the fairy's voice. "Two gifts remain. And do not despair .In thebegining there was but one that was precious, and it is still here.
"Wealth-which is power! How blind i was!"said the man."Now,at last, life will be worth the living.Iwill spend.squander.These mockers and despisers will crawl in the dirt before me,and i will feedmy hungry heart with their envy,I will have all luxuries, all joys, all enchant-times of the spirit Iwill buy, buy, buy!I have lost much time, and chosen badly heretofore, but let that pass;I wasignorant then, and could but take for best what seemed so."
Three short years went by,and a day came when the man sat shivering in a mean garret;and hewas gaunt and wan and hollow-eyed,and clothed in rags;and he was gnawing a dry crust andmumbling:"Curse all the world's gifts for mockeries and gilded lies! And miscalled, every one,Theyare not gifts, but merely lendings.Pleasure.Love,Fame.Riches:they are but temporary disguisesfor lasting realities-Pain,Grief,Shame,Poverty.The fairy said true;in all her store there was butone gift which was precious, only one that was not valueless,How poor and cheap and mean iknow those others now to be,Bring it!I am weary.I would rest."

The fairy came, bringing again four of the gifts, but Death was wanting. She said:"I gave it to amother's pet, a little child. It was ignorant, but trusted me,asking me to choose for it.You didnot ask me to choose."
"Oh,miserable me!What is left for me ?"
"What not even you have deserved:the wantoninsult of Old Age."

The Elegant Heart Towards Life, 希望使你的心灵有所触动。
As the brief introduction to this blog says, life couldbe poor and life could be lonely, but what we couldnever lose is the elegant heart towards life.
Everyone is busy these days. They are always drivenby their lives, buterehwis their destination?Something important is gradually cast awaycarelessly and some begin to complain of theboring mechanic life with no vitality with nothingnew. Actually we are the producers of our lives.Whether poor or lonely, we can live our liveselegantly.
Pay more attention to what we are really interested in and do it. Call our friends and family fordaily greetings. Occasionally go out for a walk and a climb and do some sports. Occasionally dinein a quiet clean and elaborately arranged restrourrant with our best friends and have a casualchat with them in a cafe whenever we have the mood. Arrange our room in a tidy way andsometimes changepuorgof daily articles, and buy our vase a bunch of flowers. Spend oneafternoon reading our favorite magazines without doing anything else.
Surely we are busy, but don't let the busy life destroy our own time. We should try to live forourselves like humanbeings but not machines.

There was a group called "The Fisherman's Fellowship". They were surrounded by streams andlakes full of hungry fish. They met regularly to discuss the call to fish, and the thrill of catchingfish. They got excited about fishing!!
Someone suggested that they needed a philosophy of fishing, so they carefully defined andredefined fishing, and the purpose of fishing. They developed fishing strategies and tactics. Then they realized that they had been going at it backwards. They had approached fishing fromthe point of view of the fisherman, and not from the point of view of the fish. How do fish viewthe world? How does the fisherman appear to the fish? What do fish eat, and when? These areall good things to know. So they began research studies, and attended conferences on fishing. Some traveled to far away places to study different kinds of fish, with different habits. Somegot PhD's in fishology. But no one had yet gone fishing.
So a committee was formed to send out fishermen. As prospective fishing placesoutnumbered fishermen, the committee needed to determine priorities.
A priority list of fishing places was posted on bulletin boards in all of the fellowship halls. Butstill, no one was fishing. A survey was launched, to find out why… Most did not answer thesurvey, but from those that did, it was discovered that some felt called to study fish, a few tofurnish fishing equipment, and several to go around encouraging the fisherman.
What with meetings, conferences, and seminars, they just simply didn't have time to fish.
Now, Jake was a newcomer to the Fisherman's Fellowship. After one stirring meeting of theFellowship, Jake went fishing. He tried a few things, got the hang of it, and caught a choice fish.At the next meeting, he told his story, and he was honored for his catch, and then scheduledto speak at all the Fellowship chapters and tell how he did it. Now, because of all the speakinginvitations and his election to the board of directors of the Fisherman's Fellowship, Jake nolonger has time to go fishing.
But soon he began to feel restless and empty. He longed to feel the tug on the line once again. So he cut the speaking, he resigned from the board, and he said to a friend, "Let's go fishing."They did, just the two of them, and they caught fish.
The members of the Fisherman's Fellowship were many, the fish were plentiful, but the fisherswere few.

Don't Miss Out on Life,欢迎大家阅读!
It takes only a minute to get crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to lovesomeone. But it takes a lifetime to forget someone.
Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go forsomeone who makes you smile. Because it only takes a smile to make a dark day seem bright.Find the one that makes your heart smile.
Maybe we meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meetthe right person. We will know how to be grateful for that gift.
It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don'tknow what we've been missing until it arrives.
Giving someone all your love will not provide assurance that they'll love you back. Don't expectlove in return; Just wait for it to grow in their hearts. But if it doesn't, be content. It grew inyours.
There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick themfrom your dreams and hug them for real!
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enoughsorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy.
The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything. They just make the most ofeverything that comes along their way.
Happiness are for those who cry, those who have searched, and those who have tried becauseonly they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives.

Tucked away in our subconscious is an idyllic vision. We see ourselves on a long trip that spans the continent. We are traveling by train. Out of the windows, we drink in the passing scene of cars on nearby highways, of children waving at a crossing, of cattle grazing on a distant hillside, of smoke pouring from a power plant, of row upon row of corn and wheat, of flatlands and valleys, of mountains and rolling hillsides, of city skylines and village halls.
But uppermost in our minds is the final destination. On a certain day at a certain hour, we will pull into the station. Bands will be playing and flags waving. Once we get there, so many wonderful dreams will come true and the pieces of our lives will fit together like a completed jigsaw puzzle. How restlessly we pace the aisles, damning the minutes for loitering --waiting, waiting, waiting for the station.
"When we reach the station, that will be it!" we cry.
"When I'm 18."
"When I buy a new 450SL Mercedes Benz!"
"When I put the last kid through college."
"When I have paid off the mortgage!"
"When I get a promotion."
"When I reach the age of retirement, I shall live happily ever after!"
Sooner or later, we must realize there is no station, no one place to arrive at once and for all. The true joy of life is the trip. The station is only a dream. It constantly outdistances us.
"Relish the moment "is a good motto, especially when coupled with Psalm 118:24: "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." It isn't the burdens of today that drive men mad. It is the regrets over yesterday and the fear of tomorrow. Regret and fear are twin thieves who rob us of today.
So stop pacing the aisles and counting the miles. Instead, climb more mountains, eat more ice cream, go barefoot more often, swim more rivers, watch more sunsets, laugh more, cry less. Life must be lived as we go along. The station will come soon enough.

I have often dreamed, of a far off place
Where a hero's welcome, would be waiting for me
Where the crowds will cheer, when they see my face
And a voice keeps saying, this is where I'm meant to be
I'll be there someday, I can go the distance
I will find my way, if I can be strong
I know ev'ry mile, will be worth my while
When I go the distance, I'll be right where I belong
Down an unknown road, to embrace my fate
Though that road may wander, it will lead me to you
And a thousand years, would be worth the wait
It might take a lifetime, but somehow I'll see it through
And I won't look back, I can go the distance
And I'll stay on track, no, I won't accept defeat
It's an uphill slope, but I won't lose hope
Till I go the distance, and my journey is complete
But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero's strength is measured by his heart
Like a shooting star, I will go the distance
I will search the world, I will face its harms
I don't care how far, i can go the distance
Till I find my hero's welcome, waiting in your arms

I will search the world, I will face its harms

Till I find my hero's welcome, waiting in your arms
